Reflect of Reading habits

 About the pictures...

In this image, an elderly woman can be seen reading a digital book, possibly a tablet or a smart book. Upon first glance, it appears that she is reading an excerpt from the Bible. The fact that she is using a digital device suggests that she is someone who wants to keep up with the digital age and stay integrated with the latest technologies. It seems that she has chosen the text herself, as she appears to be very focused on the task at hand. In my opinion, it is crucial to make digital tools accessible not only to the younger generations but also to the older ones, so that they can use them comfortably and safely.

In this picture, we can see a group of students who are reading in class. It appears that they haven't been given the freedom to choose their own book as they are all reading the same one (graded readers). While everyone seems engrossed in reading, it can be risky to select a single book for a large group of students since not all children share the same interests. The key is to find a reading material that can assist children in discovering their love for books.

About me...

  1. 1. Texts Enjoyed in Each Language:

    • L1 (Spanish): I enjoy literature, news articles, blogs, or social media content in Spanish. I also appreciate Spanish-language poetry, novels, or cultural texts.
    • L2 (English): In English, I enjoy similar genres, such as literature, news, blogs, and social media. I also try to explore English-language literature, ranging from classic novels to contemporary fiction and non-fiction.

  2. 2. Choice of Texts:

    • Similar or Different: Some individuals might choose similar types of texts in both languages, especially if they're proficient in both. However, others may read very different things depending on the language due to factors like language proficiency, cultural relevance, or personal interests.
    • Factors Influencing Choice: Factors influencing the choice of texts can include language proficiency, availability of content in each language, cultural relevance, and personal preferences. For example, someone might prefer reading news articles in their L1 for better comprehension but enjoy reading literature in their L2 to improve language skills.

  3. 3. Format of Reading:

    • Paper: I prefer physical books or newspapers for leisure reading, especially for languages I'm more comfortable with.
    • E-reader: E-readers offer convenience and access to a wide range of texts in both languages. They might be particularly useful for language learners as they often provide built-in dictionaries and language tools.

  4. 4. Reading Times:

    • Varied Times: I engage in reading activities at different times depending on my schedule, preferences, and purpose. Sometimes I read during leisure time, while others might incorporate reading into my daily routine, such as commuting or before bedtime.
